Specialists of Criminal Sections within the Enforcement Department of the Republic of Moldova were informed about the prospects of the implementation of probation institution
In April – May 2006, the Enforcement Department of the Republic of Moldova carried out three informative seminars on “Probation with Regard to Persons Exempted from Criminal Sanctions and Enforcement of Criminal Sanctions without Deprivation of Liberty”. These activities gathered specialists of criminal sections of the three zones of the Republic of Moldova and were carried out in the following succession:
- Southern zone: Comrat town, April 26, 2006;
- Northern zone: Balti town, May 18, 2006;
- Central zone: Chisinau Municipality, May 19, 2006.
Within these activities, they presented the main problems the specialists of criminal sections face within the process of enforcing and supervising criminal punishments, such as: fine, unpaid community work, as well as other supervising activities with regard to people on probation.
In order to present the carried out activities and the prospects of the implementation of probation institution, they solicited assistance from the Institute for Penal Reforms.
The third seminar was organized with the participation of Krzysztof Pawlowski, a member of the Polish Association for Legal Education, at which the experience of Poland in implementing the probation institution was presented. Also they discussed the possibility of establishing cooperation relations with the Probation Service in Poland.
