Round tables "Initiating the service for preparing the release of detainees from the Penitentiary Institutions Pruncul no.9 and Branesti no. 18"

In September 2006 the Institute for Penal Reform financed by Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) and Moldova Soros Foundation has organized two round tables in 2 penitentiary institutions from the Republic of Moldova named "Initiating the service for preparing the release of detainees from the Penitentiary Institutions".

This activity is included in the project "STRENGTHENING CIVIL SOCIETY IN MOLDOVA: MARGINALIZED GROUPS. SOCIAL RE-INTEGRATION OF EX-DETAINEES" financed by Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) and Moldova Soros Foundation.

The first round table has been organized in Pruncul prison no. 9 on 18.09.2006, at 10.00, and the second one in Branesti prison no. 18 on 25.09.2006 at 10.00.

These round tables have been organized in the context of achieving the plan of activities for implementing the program, initiated on 01.06.2006 in the field of preparing the release and social re-integration of detainees. There have participated social assistants, psychologists and heads of districts from these institutions. The purpose of the meeting was to bring to the participants’ notice the implementing project, as well as settling the interaction between the experts involved in the program and the workers of the penitentiary institution.

The activity within this round table has centered round the following points: Overview of the project and the aim of the round table; presenting the position record of the counselors for preparing the release of detainees; important psycho-social aspects of the activity for preparing the release of detainee.

In the framework of these round tables the Services for preparing the release of detainees from the above-mentioned prisons have been endowed with technical equipment (P.C., printer and other office supplies), necessary for the current activity.
