Workshop "Social re-integration of ex-detainees in the communities of the Republic of Moldova", Chisinau, 28-30 of September
In the period of 28-30 of September 2006, the Institute for Penal Reform, financed by Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) and Moldova Soros Foundation has organized a seminar in Chisinau named "Social re-integration of ex-detainees in the communities of the Republic of Moldova".
Among the main objectives of the workshop we can mention:
1. informing the participants about the current situation in the field of psycho-social re-integration of ex-detainees;
2. presenting the activity nature of the psycho-social re-integration of ex-detainees;
3. Identifying the source individuals, for their further involvement as counselor of psycho-social re-integration of ex-detainees, within the above-mentioned project.
The workshop activity has been structured in several sections: Overview of the current situation in the field of preparing the release and social re-integration of ex-detainees; work practices in the field of social re-integration of ex-detainees and other categories of beneficiaries; overview of the current situation in the field of preparing the release of detainees; initiating the activities of services for social re-integration of ex-detainees; developing and implementing the programs of social re-integration of ex-detainees in the communities of the Republic of Moldova.
There have participated at this event social assistants, psychologists, lawyers, counselors for probation within the Institute for Penal Reform, representatives of non-governmental organizations. „Alter Ego” Center (Causeni), day and temporary accommodation Center for minors and orphan young people in the post-institutional period „Vatra” and Ungheni Community Justice Center. In the first day there have been presented the outcomes of the Needs Assessment Mission in the field of preparing the release of detainees, as well as the methods and the work techniques in organizing the activities of social re-integration of ex-detainees. In the third day the workshop has centered its activity round the workgroups for setting out the strategy for developing and implementing the activities of social re-integration of ex-detainees in the communities of the Republic of Moldova, afterwards there have been presented the outcomes and assessed the activities, having been appreciated the most successful suggestions concerning the effectiveness of the process of social re-integration of ex-detainees.
