The Institute for Penal Reform with the financial support of Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) and Moldova Soros Foundation within the project "STRENGTHENING CIVIL SOCIETY IN MOLDOVA: MARGINALIZED GROUPS. SOCIAL RE-INTEGRATION OF EX-DETAINEES" organized on July 13, 2007 a Round table "Social re-integration of persons released from detention facilities in Rezina district".
The purpose of the event was to initiate the activity of Rezina Community Justice Center which aims at providing assistance and conciliation to ex-detainees in the process of their re-integration in the community, assistance in educational programs for juveniles and improving the security system (automatic supervising system), as well as cooperating in outlining certain programs for juveniles.
At the round table were invited representatives of state institutions, empowered with the task to implement the programs of social re-integration, social workers, public officials, family doctors, prosecutors, circuit inspectors. The event served an excellent opportunity for discussing the need of establishing the Community Justice Centers and their roles in the system of institutions involved in the process of social re-integration. The participants had the possibility to analyze the beneficiary's profile of CJC, as well as the significance of the programs in preparing for release, carried out within penitentiaries for successful re-integration of ex-detainees.
